Christmas Starts Early this Year!

Don’t let this year’s Christmas season pass you by without attending the “Sidney Sparkles” Santa Parade and the Sidney SailPast of Lighted Boats on Saturday November 20th, 2010!

The “Sidney Sparkles” Santa Parade begins at 5 pm.  Line up along Beacon Avenue and Second Street to see the beautiful light parade!

At 6:15 pm the SailPast of Lighted Boats will sail along the Sidney Waterfront.  The SailPast is best viewed from Port Sidney to Tulista Park.  Boaters with large to small vessels enter the parade and create beautiful light displays on their boats.  They assemble at Van Isle Marina at 5:30 pm and Leave Tsehum Harbour at 6 pm.

Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

Join Greg Andrew, Yacht Broker at Van Isle Marina, at this year’s International Boat Show in Fort Lauderdale from October 28th – November 1, 2010.

The boat show spans over 3 million square feet of space over five locations in Fort Lauderdale.  View a wide variety of vessels while taking in Florida’s scenery and sights.

General Admission Friday through Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm and Monday from 10 am to 5 pm.

Gulf Islands Rate in National Geographic’s Top 10 for Coastal Destinations

Canada holds four spots out of the 99 coastal destinations National Geographic rated as the places to visit world-wide.  Landing the No. 1 spot is Newfoundland’s Avalon Peninsula with an 84 rating.  The Gulf Islands came in at No. 7 with its breathtaking scenery, its local communities and its laid-back and tranquil atmosphere.

Winterizing your Boat this Season

With the winter months approaching, it is time to winterize the boat for the season.  Protect your investment by following Discoverboating.ca excellent tips for winterizing your vessel.  These helpful tips include the maintenance of inboard and outboard engines, protecting your fuel tank from condensation build-up and the importance of land storage.

Van Isle Marina is building a new Yacht Park for the purpose of monthly and annual yacht storage and a full-service repair and maintenance facility that will include power wash, zincs, anti-fouling paint, detailing, mast storage, and project management.

Salt Spring Island’s Saturday Market

Salt Spring Island holds a Saturday Market each Saturday starting from April through to the last Saturday in October.  The market opens about 8 am and runs until 4 pm.  The market is located Oceanside at Centennial Park on Salt Spring Island.

The Salt Spring Island Saturday Market is acclaimed for its “Homespun Guarantee”.  All vendors must “make it, bake it, or grow it” in order to sell at the market.

Only a few Saturday’s left to enjoy the market.

CANPASS – Canada Border Services Agency Program

The Canada Border Services Agency offers the CANPASS – Private Boats program that allows CANPASS permit holders easier travel to and from Canada and the United States.

If you are a frequent traveler between the United States and Canada, the CANPASS program may interest you.

The Wine Islands Passport

Are you interested in exploring the fastest growing wine region in North America?  The Wine Islands Passport was created to provide a self-guided wine tour around Vancouver Island and the surrounding Islands.

The Wine Islands Passport also acts as your entry into a draw, which closes September 30, 2010.  However, the Passport can still be used as an excellent self-guided tour helping you explore all of the delicious tastes Vancouver Island and the Islands have to offer.

The Wine Islands Passport is available for download on the wineislands.ca website and can be picked up at any participating winery.

Boats Afloat Show, Seattle WA

Join Van Isle Marina at the Lake Union Boats Afloat Show happening NOW through September 19th, 2010.

Email Communication Winners!

Van Isle Marina held an email address initiative in August as we believe using email will expedite and enhance our communications on a wide range of matters with boat owners at Van Isle Marina.  A draw was held on September 7th for the prizes that are redeemable for the purchase of any marina service or product in the amount of:

  • Two draws of $500 each
  • Five draws of $200 each
