Taste Victoria – July 24 -27, 2014

tasteTaste is Victoria’s sixth annual festival of food and wine…a local taste of Vancouver Island and the wine regions of British Columbia.

Taste uncorks Thursday July 24, 2014 with an evening tasting of more than 100 British Columbia wines and local cuisine prepared by top Vancouver Island chefs. Not just a wine festival, this culinary tourism experience is an extra long weekend of tastings, seminars and events…a festival with a culinary conscience. Event tickets sell quickly!

LavenderMake sure you bring the children and grand-children. There is a great kids program, with crafts, face-painting, feeding the animals and loads of kids treats, free refreshments and admission for the children. Each child will be given a feed bag of healthy treats for the animals so they can feed them. The border collies are waiting with a large selection of tennis balls should anyone want to throw balls for them 1000 times. The weather looks as if it is going to be just great, free drinks are available for all to battle the heat. Childrens hotdogs are available for $3 and grown up ones for $5. See you Saturday/ Sunday 10 am to 4.30 pm. Parking is available at the info centre next door or on John Road, on farm parking is reserved for handicapped.

Summer Sounds – Beacon Park

Summer soundsGet your lawn chairs and blankets ready — Sidney Summer Sounds concert series kicks off this weekend in Beacon Park at the bandshell.

The annual concert series features several bands playing different genres throughout July and August from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. every Sunday.

Sidney Days 2014

SidneyDays2014Sidney Days begins tomorrow (June 30th) for two amazing days of celebrations! Start with the Thrifty Foods Community BBQ on Monday June 30th from 4pm – 6pm and stay for the Canada Day BIG cake and live entertainment  beginning at 7:45pm. This is the perfect lead up to the spectacular Fireworks extravaganza put to music beginning at 10pm.

Monday July 1st begins at 8am at the Mary Winspear Centre with the Sidney Lions Pancake Breakfast and is followed by the Sidney Canada Day Parade at 11:30am.

Make sure to stick around for the Family Fun Fair at Iroquios Park from 12:30pm – 4pm where you can participate in the Dog look-a-like contest, clowns, face painting, petting zoo, street hockey and many more activities for all ages.
