Van Isle Marina Donates to RCM-SAR
As part of Van Isle Marina’s Corporate Social Responsibility, we chose to support the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCM – SAR).
RCM – SAR is a highly-trained, all-volunteer unit with a 24/7 state of readiness. In a situation of marine distress, they would be the first rescue vessel on scene. The rescue vessel, rescue equipment and personal safety gear are all paid for through donations and grants.
Key background considerations:
- Volunteer members of your community
- Annual operating budget of $100,000
- Trained in Marine Search & Rescue, and Marine Emergency First Aid
- 24/7 Response to Marine Emergencies with a fast response vessel in the Southern Gulf Islands and Saanich Inlet
Through the generosity of our moorage and storage guests, Fuel Dock customers, and contributions matched by Van Isle Marina we were able to raise $11,266 for RCM – SAR!
Contributions paid by moorage and storage guests: $4,560
Contributions matched by Van Isle Marina: $4,560
Contributions made by Fuel Dock customers: $2,146
Total Contribution $11,266
Greg Dickinson, the President of Van Isle Marina was proud to present Kevin Begley the Station Leader of RCM-SAR 36, Sidney and Pat Fogarty the President of the Saanich Marine Rescue Society with the cheque.
Thank you to all who participated in this great cause and from all of us at Van Isle Marina we wish you safe boating!
