Wounded Warriors Canada

This month Van Isle Marina is proud to have supported Bob Burkholder, and the salmon fishing program he runs in conjunction with Wounded Warriors Canada.

Through his own experience in recovering from trauma, Bob came to realize the healing benefits of being on the water and connecting with nature. Looking for a way to help others, he approached Wounded Warriors Canada last year and started a fishing program to support returning military personal, first responders and local law enforcement who are dealing with PTSD and or physical disabilities.

In 2015, Bob took 23 participants out on his 232 Grady White, “Hummingbird”. Once the salmon start running, he already has 20 participants lined up for the 2016 season.

We sponsored the haul-out, power wash, and laydays for “Hummingbird” while Bob painted up the bottom with paint sponsored by Interlux.
