Canada/Sidney Days Opening Ceremonies

Tuesday June 30th

Entertainment begins at 6:30 pm with colourful dancers from the Victoria Filipino Canadian Association, performing traditional dances. The formal Welcome and Opening begins at 7:30. At 8:00 pm the big birthday cake comes out and the Craig Henderson Trio entertains until the Fireworks begin at 10:00 pm. Fireworks can be viewed anywhere along Sidney’s waterfront.

Wednesday July 1st

The festivities kick off with the Sidney Lions Pancake Breakfast at 8 am followed by the Sidney Canada Day Parade at 11 am, the Family Fun Fair and Slegg Build a Boat Race! Please click here for more information.

Strawberry Cycle 2015

Join TIDES and Pedego Victoria for a Sunday electric bicycle “Strawberries & Wine” tour on the Saanich Peninsula. On Sunday, June 21, come explore the farms, markets and wineries on two wheels! Ride your own bicycle or try a classic electric bicycle to cruise in comfort.

Ride LOCAL!

Starting and finishing at the Roost Farm Centre in North Saanich, with plenty of parking, the ride will travel the country roads of the Peninsula to visit at least three farms/markets and three beverage producers featuring local strawberries. This will be a leisurely Sunday afternoon ride with lots of time to experience the farm and beverage stops.

The ride is approximately 27 KM. Riders will meet at the Roost Farm Centre at 12 PM, returning by about 4:30PM. Please click here for more information.

Swiftsure International Yacht Race 2015

On Wednesday, May 20^th competitors yachts begin arriving in Victoria’s Inner Harbour. The Swiftsure Centre will open Thursday, and from then through Friday it will be filled with sailors checking in for their races. With the Swiftsure Centre now located in and by the Steamship Grill & Bar, there will be great food options right there!

Saturday the races begin! Clover Point is the best location for those interested in viewing the start. The yachts will jockey for the best starting position in the area off Clover Point and it will be quite a sight. The races continue through the weekend with yachts in the long distance courses crossing the finish line off the end of the Ogden Point Breakwater during the night of Saturday and continuing all day Sunday and into that evening.

The Swiftsure Race Tracker system will be in the Swiftsure Centre from Saturday throughout the race and will show the positions of the competitors as they make their way along the race courses. Please click here for more information.

Happy Victoria Day! The Marina Office is open 8 am – 4:30 pm today and the Fuel Dock is open 8 am – 8pm.
